American Aviculturists for over 35 yrs, husband and wife team, Kevin Lund & Kateri Davis, are private aviculturists and have been working with a large variety of softbills since 1992. They currently have over 100 individuals of over 20 different species, from honeycreepers to mousebirds. They keep most of the young produced but do occasionally have birds for sale or trade. They are private softbill breeders and do not broker or import birds. The birds they sell are raised in their aviaries. Quantity and local sales are discounted. All birds are sold with written sales contract/health guarantee, care sheets, sexing paperwork, and pedigree charts/family trees. Pick up in Eugene, OR is preferred. Shipping is only available by airlines (Delta) for the shipping amount (around $185), travel fee ($200), plus $25 crate fee. Weather and route permitting. Trades for other softbills or bloodlines are always considered. Prices and availability are subject to change. Contact DLAviaries@aol.com. Communication between aviculturists and sharing experiences is vital to ensuring these birds will continue to be around in the USA. Kateri Davis has written “Mousebirds in Aviculture” 2001 and “Turacos in Aviculture” 2012 by Birdhouse Publications (https://birdhouse-publications.weeblysite.com), and contributed the turaco and mousebird chapters in the 2007 book “Hand-Rearing Birds” by Blackwell Publishing. She has written several magazine articles and given several presentations on softbilled birds. They have a large avicultural website at https://dlaviaries.wordpress.com. See some of their birds in action at their YouTube Channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/DLAviaries. They firmly believe in protecting rights to work with exotic animals. Kateri also runs an international census on turacos in aviculture every five years. Check out the latest census results on her website. They work at establishing several species to help ensure that these birds will be around in USA aviculture for many generations to come. They also work cooperatively with zoos and are members of the SSP Studbooks for Red Crest and Lady Ross Turacos. Birds are their passion!
