Description
Scientific Name: Pionites leucogaster Native Range: Amazon Basin, South America The White-Bellied Caique is a small, extremely active parrot species within the family Psittacidae. It is characterized by its predominantly white underparts, green wings and back, orange-yellow head and thighs, and short tail. White-Bellied Caiques inhabit lowland rainforests, forest edges, and floodplain forests across parts of the Amazon Basin. They are typically found in the mid to upper-level forest canopy and nest in tree cavities. IUCN Conservation Status: Vulnerable At Parrot Stars, we prioritize education, welfare, and responsible parrot ownership to help ensure every bird finds and thrives in a forever home. Before taking home any parrot, we provide comprehensive guidance on proper caging and setup, positive reinforcement training, household safety, nutrition, and enrichment. Parrots in captivity are still wild animals with all their natural instincts. Your overall success and experience with any species of companion parrot is greatly impacted by positive reinforcement training. A parrotβs behavior reflects both the environment they live in and the training they receive. All of our hand-fed babies are hatched and raised in our own breeding facility and weaned onto a diverse, high-variety diet. Our parrots are never clipped and are fully flighted.
